Alfred Dunhill Championship betting preview
For many golfers, December represents down time; a chance to put the clubs to one side and recharge the batteries for the new year ahead.
But for Dean Burmester, this week’s Alfred Dunhill Championship in his native South Africa offers a great chance to achieve something very rare: winning three events in a row.
Burmester has made hay over the last fortnight, scoring three-shot wins in both the Joburg Open and the South African Open.

Shooting 43-under across those two events, the monster-hitting 34-year-old has doubled his tally of DP World Tour wins from two to four.
He’ll make his hat-trick bid at one of the tour’s most scenic venues – Leopard Creek.
Situated on the edge of Kruger National Park, Sky Sports’ TV footage will feature plenty of shots of wild animals as leopards, zebra, impala, crocodiles and many more species roam the land and water.
South Africans have won eight of the last 10 editions so it’s no surprise that home players occupy the top seven slots in the betting.

🏌️♂️ Christiaan Bezuidenhout can bank victory
The 7,249-yard par 72 was seriously toughened up in 2018 so course form prior to that appears less important than it might have.
That’s bad news for Charl Schwartzel, who used to boast an incredible record at Leopard Creek, winning four times and finishing second on another four occasions between 2004 and 2015.
Treble-seeking Burmester has to be given respect at 7/1 but the main win bet this week is another South African, Christiaan Bezuidenhout.
After kicking off this new 2023/24 DP World Tour season with finishes of ninth (Joburg Open) and 17th (South African Open), Bezuidenhout looks close to a breakout week.
And having won (by four shots) at this venue on his penultimate appearance in 2020, the 29-year-old knows how to get it done here.
🏌️♂️ Scott Jamieson to outscore Hennie Du Plessis
Course form counts for plenty on this course and that’s why Scott Jamieson appeals at Even money with bet365 to get the better of Hennie Du Plessis in a 72-hole match bet.
Jamieson loves this venue and his course form is outstanding. Third back in 2012, the Scot has finished fourth, third, sixth and 11th on his last four visits, shooting a 63 in round two last year.
That’s in sharp contrast to Du Plessis, who has missed three of his last four cuts at Leopard Creek, failing to break 70 in any of those.
The South African has had a slight edge over Jamieson in the last two weeks, finishing 21st and 25th to Jamieson’s 37th and 31st.
But there were only a couple of shots in it and, on this course, Jamieson can shoot lower this time.
🏌️♂️ Andy Sullivan for Top 10
It’s been nearly 10 years since Andy Sullivan teed it up at Leopard Creek but he enjoyed his previous visits, finishing third and 14th in two of his three starts.
He’s also shown some decent form in the last fortnight with 12th in the Joburg Open and 38th at the South African Open.
On those numbers, he’s a decent bet at 5/2 with bet365 to crack the top 20.
