On Tuesday 18 April, Japanese global retailer UNIQLO announced future plans to open the first store of its kind in the Grand-Duchy.

The ready-wear brand will open shop in fall of 2023, in the boutique previously occupied by Zara on the Grand Rue in the city centre.

Luxembourg’s first UNIQLO store will offer almost 100 square meters of shopping across three floors. The date of the official grand opening has yet to be announced, but the store is said to be coming in fall of this year.

In a press release, CEO of UNIQLO Europe Taka Morikawa said, “We are pleased to be able to engage with customers in Luxembourg for the very first time and introduce our LifeWear philosophy – apparel that is created from our Japanese values of simplicity, quality, and longevity and designed to help improve people’s daily lives. We look forward to interacting with the local residents, ‘frontaliers’ and many visitors of this dynamic and cosmopolitan city.”

While the instillation of UNIQLO will be the first retail-outlet for the company in Luxembourg, the new store represents the sixth store in the greater region, as the brand continues to expand into the Benelux region. The Japanese retail brand can currently be found in neighboring cities the likes of Amsterdam, La Haye and Brussels.
