After a brilliant Cheltenham Festival, attention has already turned to next year’s four-day fiesta. We’ve got former jockey-turned-pundit Ruby Walsh and ace tipster Rory Delargy to put together a Lucky 15 for you lot! The pair were speaking on the Cheltenham Review episode of our From The Horse’s Mouth podcast.

RUBY: Constitution Hill in the Champion Hurdle. I said before that Nico De Boinville didn’t complicate things. He gave Constitution Hill the perfect ride – bar the last hurdle – when he took off a bit too early and was millimetres from clipping the top of the obstacle with the Champion Hurdle at his mercy.

There’s nothing close to him in the current hurling division and any of the novices coming through would need to be very, very special to lower his colours next season. At this stage, he’ll have most of them running scared and diverting to fences or going over longer trips to avoid him. His price for Cheltenham 2024 already reflects his chance of becoming a dual Champion Hurdle winner.

RORY: Impervious for the Ryanair Chase. She’s good. She’s even better than what we’ve seen so far and her form is working out really well. My God she was tough from the last fence [in the Mrs Paddy Power Mares’ Chase]. She met it on the wrong stride but she was clever.

Allegorie De Vassy got the jump and got away but it didn’t take her long to get back on terms. She was really strong from the last and she’s a mare with a big, big future, particularly on soft ground.

RORY: Blazing Khal is in the betting for several races next year but the biggest price is for the Paddy Power Stayers’ Hurdle. I don’t think he jumps a fence. He’s a huge price and was much shorter for this year’s race off a bad preparation.

RUBY: Galopin Des Champs in the Gold Cup. He silenced the doubters and stayed resolutely up Cleeve Hill to win the Gold Cup. All the prep work in getting him to settle throughout the season paid dividends and he can only improve.

The Gold Cup is littered with runners who’ve attempted to win back-to-back renewals and failed, but Galopin Des Champs was the youngest horse in the race and will be stronger and more mature as an eight-year-old next year.
