Horse racing tips: Lingfield, Taunton and Musselburgh – Thursday November 30

With no evening racing this week in the UK there are just four meetings taking place on Thursday.

An all-National Hunt programme starts at Musselburgh (11.50-3.20pm), with Lingfield (12.05-3.30), Taunton (12.17-3.45) and Thurles (12.10-3.35) completing a 28-race line-up.

Among selections is a Jamie Snowden-trained gelding who went close on his chasing debut and looks well placed to go one at Lingfield.

Horse racing tips: Lingfield 2.20

PASSING WELL did a good job when second on his chasing debut this month at Ascot (2m 3f, soft). His jumping was not perfect but it was good enough to get him into contention and he was slightly hindered by a faller when jumping the last, which ultimately allowed the winner to pull clear.

He should take a step forward here against some interesting types over an extra furlong. Heva Rose won over course and distance last week and could make life difficult for the top weight, but the drop in class gives Jamie Snowden’s charge a chance if he can reproduce the form of this Ascot run.

He will appreciate the cut in the ground as he clearly acts well on softer going, on which his two hurdle wins have come. Any more rain will be a bonus for him in his attempt to go one better.

FOREVER WILLIAM showed that his summer break had done him no harm this month by winning on his seasonal reappearance at Plumpton (2m 4½f, good to soft). He also won over course and distance in January, so his connections will be confident about his chances here.

He sometimes looks lazy when jumping but showed at Plumpton that he can grind out a win. That was arguably a tougher race than this 2m 3f handicap hurdle so he should have the number of most of his rivals here, while it should be remembered he is a five-year-old who is still learning his craft.

This race has produced a number of winners who have gone on to win decent races and given Forever William’s ultra-consistent profile, he should go well and be there or thereabouts.

SCOTS POET has become a bit of a course specialist, finishing in the first three in all four runs here.

He didn’t make the best start to the season when fourth at Kelso in October, but he looked to have come on for that run when second in a tight contest here last time out.

This 1m 7½f hurdle does look like a tough race, with a fellow course-and distance-winner in Socialist Agenda, while Ip Up won at Fakenham last week.

However, Scots poet is stepping down in class today, which is obviously favourable for him back at his favourite track, and he has a decent chance of getting to the line first.
